Visitors who plan to attend the Rainforest World Music Festival 2007 at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Kuching this year can rest assure that they are in safe hands.According to Sarawak Tourism Board's CEO, Gracie Geikie, security has been beefed up in numbers of personnel and also with the addition of drugs detecting police dogs. Such measurements are only to ensure that patrons can truly enjoy the night with no worries with regards to security at the event.This is also done in lieu with the increase in numbers of visitors this year, which is targeted at 24,000 people."We had such a great response from music lovers, loyal fans to the event and also people who have heard about the event through friends. Sales of online tickets were great. In fact for Saturday, all of the tickets are sold out," explained Geikie.Those going for the show can expect a big turn out and also amazing performances by 20 bands from all around the world, most of which are second timers of third timers to the Rainforest World Music Festival."The aim of the festival has always been and will always be the preservation and conservation of ethnic music and traditional musical instruments.As we went along the event also became an instrument to promote peace through rich culture and heritage. We are happy that the festival has grown bigger through the years. For next year, we plan to bring RWMF to another level, not in term of quantity but by adding fringe events," she said.Some of the events in discussion are tribal arts workshop and tribal arts forum. Such events are hoped to encourage visitors to stay longer and really be exposed to Sarawak's heritage so that they can truly experience what Sarawak has to offer.The Rainforest World Music Festival, organised by the Sarawak Tourism Board, kicks off today at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong untill Sunday where visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in the various workshops carried out throughout the three days.The stage performances that will feature various bands from all around the world will be held every evening starting from 7.30pm. Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, that formed in 1981.[1] Although initially influenced by 1980s glam metal/hard rock bands, thrash metal acts such as Slayer and Metallica as well as traditional metal bands such as Black Sabbath would prove to be influential in the band's significant change in musical direction at the end of the 1980s. From there, Pantera became a key formulator of the groove metal (post-thrash) subgenre of heavy metal music.It would not be until nine years after forming that Pantera saw its first piece of commercial success in its major label debut, Cowboys from Hell. From there, Pantera became one of the most celebrated heavy metal bands of the 1990s. Using archived stock footage, I tried to paint a picture of the tranquility of everyday life being interrupted by chaotic events such as war. Majority of the war stock footage is from Iwo Jima documentation and the city footage comes from various sources, all recorded within the 1930s to 1940s.The song, which is a re-interpreted mix done by myself can be downloaded at the link at the end of this description. imdb review by enorme75:The Power Of Salad is really a great movie. It teaches you what is the life of a really underground music band. The kind of band which, by their music extremely violent and their way of thinking it, is really out of the system. The movie shows a lot of live extract (really amazing) and in between, it's kind of "life on the road" things... but well made, not for stupid fans.For those who don't know Lightning Bolt's music, it is a two pieces band from Providence (USA), one guy is playing a very heavy bass while his friend playing the drums at a speed no one can really understand. The drummer also sing/scream in a little distorted mic that is in his mouth... quite strange. Between hardcore techno & noise music.But the thing that is really incredible in this movie is how people are reacting to the band playing live at their different venues. It could be in a kitchen, in front of twelve people, or in an ugly place with 300 people. In each case, EVERYONE is getting completely mad.When you will see this movie - and even if this kind of music is not really yours - i bet that the only thing that you will have in your head is to really see this band performing live. Frederick Hohman plays Tu es Petra (Thou Art the Rock) from the Byzantine Sketches of Henri Mulet upon the Great Organ of Methuen Memorial Music Hall, in Methuen Massachusetts USA. This is an excerpt from a concert given on 29 September 1996. The complete 30-minute program is one episode from the Midnight Pipes tv series. Music events occur at the hall year-round, but especially well-known are the summer series of Organ Concerts on Wednesday evenings. This video is from one of the rarer, Sunday afternoon organ concerts.There is a history and an interesting story behind the organ at Methuen. Originally a Walcker organ from Germany from the mid-19th-century, it was first installed as the organ at Boston Music Hall, and it was the first concert hall organ in the United States. In the early 20th-century this hall was constructed in what was then a rural suburb of Boston, and the organ was relocated and housed at Methuen Memorial Music Hall ever since. The organ was updated and enlarged by Aeolian-Skinner, and in recent years, additional updates and fine maintenance make it function today as a fully modern concert pipe organ. As you will see from the video, the organ at Methuen has one of the most impressive organ cases in the world, and the decorative appointments of the hall interior are noteworthy.
