The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was a historic event held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969.To many, the festival exemplified the counterculture of the 1960s and the 'hippie era'. Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared during the sometimes rainy weekend. Although attempts have been made over the years to recreate the festival, the original event has proven to be unique and legendary. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll. The event was captured in a successful 1970 documentary, Woodstock (subtitled '3 Days of Peace & Music'), directed by Michael Wadleigh.Part 9.Sunday, August 17 to Monday, August 18. English rock/blues singer Joe Cocker was the first act on the last officially booked day; he opened up the day's events at 2PM. His set was preceded by at least two unidentified instrumentals by The Grease Band. Cocker's last song was a cover of 'With a Little Help from My Friends' by The Beatles from their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.__________________________________With a Little Help from My FriendsWhat would do think if I sang out of tune,Would you stand up and walk out on me.Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,And I'll try not to sing out of key.Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,He gets high with a little help from his friends,Oh I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends. What do I do when my love is away.(Does it worry you to be alone)How do I feel by the end of the day(Are you sad because you're on your own)No, I get by with a little help from my friends,Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends,Mmm I'm gonna to try with a little help from my friendsDo you need anybody?I need somebody to love.Could it be anybody?I want somebody to love.Would you believe in a love at first sight?Yes I'm certain that it happens all the time. What do you see when you turn out the light?I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends,Oh I'm gonna try with a little help from my friendsDo you need anybody?I need someone to love.Could it be anybody?I want somebody to loveOh... This is a slide show of North American Guqin Aossoication's events review. Background music Liu Shui Flowing Water played by Wang Fei, director of the North American Guqin Association. This piece is more than 700 years old, and is perhaps the most famous Chinese classical composition. The story behind it concerns the scholar Yu Boya and his friend the woodcutter Zhong Ziqi. The guqin music played by Yu Boya was as grand as the high mountains and as lively as flowing water, but only Zhong Ziqi could perceive this in his music. As a result of this mutual appreciation they became very close friends. When Zhong Ziqi died, Yu Boya destroyed his guqin and vowed never to play again, because he felt nobody else could understand his music. This is the origin of the Chinese expression zhi yin -- "knowing the sound", which means a confidant or soulmate. The version played by Wang Fei is the same as that included on the gold CD to represent Chinese music, sent into space by NASA in 1977. NAGA was founded in 1997 by Wang Fei, an internationally known guqin player. Its mission is to promote aspects of Chinese culture through the traditional art of the guqin and to build a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the Chinese and American communities. In the last ten years NAGA has grown in membership and has increased the number of programs it offers to the public. It invites guest presenters and performers to its events as a way of expanding its mission of bringing Chinese cultural heritage to local communities. For more information about NAGA and Guqin, please visit http://www.guqin.org

London: Sep 19. Earls Court. Vodafone Live Music Awards 2007.Had a great shooting position thanks to getting bounced out of the O2 Mobos. Thought we'd try our luck at Earls Court. Freezing day - summer's over - and only 4 hours wait till the action began. Lots of Brit slebs, many of whom were good enough to pop over and commune with the fanpod. All over by six for us, then back to the Colonel for a post gig round-up and greasefest.Who we saw...StereophonicsLil ChrisMichelle Heaton (Liberty X)Rachel StevensLisa SnowdonJimmy CarrTara ReidSyd and Michelle (sling)Holly WilloughbyLouise RedknappGail PorterAshleyBoys from In The Hands of the GodsShane Jacobson "Kenny"Avid Merriam (Bo Selecta)Nicky GrahamOrsonCalvin HarrisKate NashDebby HarryCSS (Brazillian Band)As usual, please let me know of errors, omissions and comments. Earl's Court, London: 20 February 2008.What a night for fans of British music. Dozens of top artists filed past on the red carpet outside Earls Court on yet another freezing day. Quite a challenge for fans too. There were few good shooting positions and plenty of competition for them. Some of my regular fan-mates couldn't run fast enough to get a good spot when the gates opened. It was bedlam. One girl fell in front of me and it seemed unseemly to step over her and my prime place was gone. Fortunately security made sure unaccredited media were chucked out, leaving me with an OK spot on the barricade. Things have a habit of working themselves out. Lots of kids and their parents in the crowd that all added to the atmosphere -- it's half term btw. Plenty screaming from them, it seems they love all the stars and aren't self conscious about saying it loud. Listen to the sound if you need confirmation. Seemed odd to hear primary school kids discussing rehab, and not the song! Plenty of opportunity for the autograph folk, though many of the biggest names snuck in around the back to avoid the hubbub.Celebs and artists spotted...Matt WillisKyser ChiefsAdeleBeth DittoOne Night OnlyLeona LewisWill YoungNancy and Vic ReevesMikaMark RonsonRihannaShane WardThe HoossiersBen MillerAlan CarrLamarDavina McCallSean LennonK T TunstallArtic MonkeysCatherine JenkinsOzzy, Sharon OsbourneKate NashAlesha DixonKelly RowlandKimberley WalshSarah HardingJames BluntTess DalyVernon KayTake ThatAs usual, please let me know about errors, omissions and your comments. It's the classic "Shoes" song by Kelly, but censored. I didn't censor "bitch" as it wouldn't be censored (to my knowledge) on TV (i.e. Law and Order)

I wrote a few tunes to go with the film that Yuji (badasi) and I writing together. The two of us along with a few other musicians and voice actors are putting together Yuji's very first full length film. I thought up a few tunes which may or may not end up in the final draft...Or may be improved by a better musician. The art is characters sketches by Yuji.

imdb review by enorme75:The Power Of Salad is really a great movie. It teaches you what is the life of a really underground music band. The kind of band which, by their music extremely violent and their way of thinking it, is really out of the system. The movie shows a lot of live extract (really amazing) and in between, it's kind of "life on the road" things... but well made, not for stupid fans. For those who don't know Lightning Bolt's music, it is a two pieces band from Providence (USA), one guy is playing a very heavy bass while his friend playing the drums at a speed no one can really understand. The drummer also sing/scream in a little distorted mic that is in his mouth... quite strange. Between hardcore techno & noise music. But the thing that is really incredible in this movie is how people are reacting to the band playing live at their different venues. It could be in a kitchen, in front of twelve people, or in an ugly place with 300 people. In each case, EVERYONE is getting completely mad. When you will see this movie - and even if this kind of music is not really yours - i bet that the only thing that you will have in your head is to really see this band performing live. Perhaps because they're only in it for... the music.----buy the real thing from http://loadrecords.com/salad.htmlhttp://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Bolt-Power-Brian-Chippendale/dp/B00006ADFFif you buy it you get wacked out animations and good in sync video

Based in Los Angeles, The Lian Ensemble (http://www.lianrecords.com) is a group of virtuoso performers and composers. Their powerful compositions fuse the Mystical Persian musical heritage with the contemporary sensibilities of postmodern Jazz. Combining a unique musical vision with dauntless dedication to experimentation, they create a synthesis of mystical world music composed of traditional and folk melodies and instruments. Their "Brilliance " has been praised by John Schneider of KPFK radio. The Lian is comprised of world-renowned musicians whose diverse and uniquely versatile musical styles lend to this rare blend of Mystical world music. Lian's music flows effortlessly between a diverse range of styles and traditions, while fearlessly forging a path and sound that is all their own. Los Angeles Times writes, "The Lian Ensemble's music-original compositions written and improvised in class on its own terms". After much collaboration, the musicians have acquired the requisite knowledge of Persian music, and each adds their own distinctive rhythmic sounds to compositions, creating an exciting mix of melodies that go beyond the stylistic boundaries. In performance, Lian's ever evolving repertoire of creative original music is expanded, rearranged, and examined with exploratory eyes at each and every concert. Los Angeles Times (Don Heckman) writes," Lian ensemble is a gifted group with completive compositions and virtuosic performances".
