The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was a historic event held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969.To many, the festival exemplified the counterculture of the 1960s and the 'hippie era'. Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared during the sometimes rainy weekend. Although attempts have been made over the years to recreate the festival, the original event has proven to be unique and legendary. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll. The event was captured in a successful 1970 documentary, Woodstock (subtitled '3 Days of Peace & Music'), directed by Michael Wadleigh._______________________Part 11. Sunday, August 17, 1969. The third day, after Joe Cocker's set, a storm disrupted the events for several hours. The rock/folk band Country Joe and the Fish resumed the concert around 6 pm. Earl's Court, London: 20 February 2008.What a night for fans of British music. Dozens of top artists filed past on the red carpet outside Earls Court on yet another freezing day. Quite a challenge for fans too. There were few good shooting positions and plenty of competition for them. Some of my regular fan-mates couldn't run fast enough to get a good spot when the gates opened. It was bedlam. One girl fell in front of me and it seemed unseemly to step over her and my prime place was gone. Fortunately security made sure unaccredited media were chucked out, leaving me with an OK spot on the barricade. Things have a habit of working themselves out. Lots of kids and their parents in the crowd that all added to the atmosphere -- it's half term btw. Plenty screaming from them, it seems they love all the stars and aren't self conscious about saying it loud. Listen to the sound if you need confirmation. Seemed odd to hear primary school kids discussing rehab, and not the song! Plenty of opportunity for the autograph folk, though many of the biggest names snuck in around the back to avoid the hubbub.Celebs and artists spotted...Matt WillisKyser ChiefsAdeleBeth DittoOne Night OnlyLeona LewisWill YoungNancy and Vic ReevesMikaMark RonsonRihannaShane WardThe HoossiersBen MillerAlan CarrLamarDavina McCallSean LennonK T TunstallArtic MonkeysCatherine JenkinsOzzy, Sharon OsbourneKate NashAlesha DixonKelly RowlandKimberley WalshSarah HardingJames BluntTess DalyVernon KayTake ThatAs usual, please let me know about errors, omissions and your comments. Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, that formed in 1981.[1] Although initially influenced by 1980s glam metal/hard rock bands, thrash metal acts such as Slayer and Metallica as well as traditional metal bands such as Black Sabbath would prove to be influential in the band's significant change in musical direction at the end of the 1980s. From there, Pantera became a key formulator of the groove metal (post-thrash) subgenre of heavy metal music. It would not be until nine years after forming that Pantera saw its first piece of commercial success in its major label debut, Cowboys from Hell. From there, Pantera became one of the most celebrated heavy metal bands of the 1990s. Despite the generally cold reception of the band's first four albums, critics have lauded Pantera's style thereafter; Jason Birchmeier of the All Music Guide considers Pantera to be "arguably the greatest metal band of '90s and ... one of the greatest and most influential metal bands ever."[2] The band has received accolades such as ranking 45 on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock[3] and fifth on MTV's "Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All-Time".[4]Due to long-standing internal conflicts, Pantera dissolved in 2003. The following year, the band's guitarist, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, was shot and killed on-stage while performing with his new band, Damageplan.Philip Hansen Anselmo (born June 30, 1968 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a heavy metal vocalist and musician, currently performing with Down. He is best known as a vocalist, lyricist and co-composer for Pantera, but has been involved with numerous other musical projects in heavy metal.Rex Robert Brown (born July 27, 1964 in Graham, Texas) is a bassist, best known for his work with the American heavy metal band Pantera from the time the band formed in the early 80's until its dissolution in 2003. Along with former Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo, he subsequently joined Down to replace bassist Todd Strange, and most recently played bass on the Crowbar album, Lifesblood for the Downtrodden. During the early days of Pantera Rex Brown went by the stage name Rex Rocker. It wasn't until Far Beyond Driven that both Rex Brown and Dimebag Darrell changed their stage names. Rex dropped Rex Rocker and was just credited from then on as Rex Brown and Diamond Darell was changed to Dimebag Darrell.Vinnie Paul (Vincent Paul Abbott) (born on March 11, 1964), in Dallas, Texas, United States is a heavy metal drummer and producer most known for his work in Pantera and Damageplan.Paul also incorporates elements of progressive rock and swing into his drumming. [citation needed]Paul is the son of Carolina Abbot and Jerry Abbott, a country music songwriter and producer. He played in Pantera, Tres Diablos, Damageplan, and Rebel Meets Rebel with his brother, late guitarist Dimebag Darrell. His professional musical relationship with his brother often earned them comparisons to hard rock musicians Eddie and Alex Van Halen. Currently, Paul, along with members from Mudvayne and Nothingface, have formed the supergroup - Hellyeah. His biggest influence is Peter Criss of KISSDimebag Darrell (born Darrell Lance Abbott on August 20, 1966, Arlington, Texas -- December 8, 2004, Columbus, Ohio), also known as Diamond Darrell until mid 1992, was the lead guitarist for the heavy metal bands Pantera, Damageplan and Rebel Meets Rebel.

Quote: "I knew virtually nothing about conventional music education, and didn't know how to teach singing. Above all, I knew nothing of what children's music was supposed to be. But the kids had a grasp of what they liked: emotion, drama, and making music as a group. Whether the results were good, bad, in tune or out was no big deal -- they had élan. This was not the way music was traditionally taught. But then I never liked conventional 'children's music,' which is condescending and ignores the reality of children's lives, which can be dark and scary. These children hated 'cute.' They cherished songs that evoked loneliness and sadness." - Hans Fenger, Langley music supervisor/arranger
