Assistance is also provided to students with music related expenses through grants, fundraisers and silent auctions that aid in developing, displaying and nurturing young artistic talents. The Punch Family Foundation is an organization that seeks to open a window of opportunity for under-represented children through music and music education. She also knew she could gain support from her mentor Mary Griffin and from the Punch Family Foundation (PFF).Stamos Martin, like Georgiana, was a Booker T. Washington high school student, and while he was excited about his acceptance to the Aspen Music Festival, he knew the $7,000 price tag would be a major hurdle. He called upon a small support team that included Gayle Punch of the Punch Family Foundation.Georgiana is now a sophomore student at Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina and aspires to attend the Harlaxton Music Festival (HMF) in Harlaxton, England. The $4,000 tuition does not include an additional $800 for airfare. On her own, Georgiana has managed to save $1,000 towards this trip. Unfortunately, the HMF offers no scholarships. Georgiana, a violist, is a sophomore music business major and former student of the Young Strings Program of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.Stamos and Georgiana each received $1,000 scholarships from the PFF to help with their music education -- scholarships they both attest have made all the difference in their access and entry to these institutions. The experience of having a musician pursue a goal of being in a symphony orchestra taught PFF founder, Gayle Punch, many lessons. The greatest was the importance of giving back. In 2006, the Foundation was able to give a $1,000 to Byron Martin who now studies the viola and music composition at an Oklahoma College. This year's challenge is to raise funds to assist music students like Stamos and Georgiana reach their potential. While most music programs offer scholarships, there are often additional costs which are not covered. These additional costs are often the prime roadblocks to economically limited minority students."It's important to help as many music students as possible if we are to see diversity in the orchestral programs across America," says Richmond Punch. Richmond is a violist and violinist who donates proceeds from all CD sales to the foundation (these can be purchased at the foundation website). He also donates his services to the annual benefit recital.Contact: richmond@richmondpunch.comAlso read the event I created with the location info and more specifics. Thanks!!

Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, that formed in 1981.[1] Although initially influenced by 1980s glam metal/hard rock bands, thrash metal acts such as Slayer and Metallica as well as traditional metal bands such as Black Sabbath would prove to be influential in the band's significant change in musical direction at the end of the 1980s. From there, Pantera became a key formulator of the groove metal (post-thrash) subgenre of heavy metal music. It would not be until nine years after forming that Pantera saw its first piece of commercial success in its major label debut, Cowboys from Hell. From there, Pantera became one of the most celebrated heavy metal bands of the 1990s. Despite the generally cold reception of the band's first four albums, critics have lauded Pantera's style thereafter; Jason Birchmeier of the All Music Guide considers Pantera to be "arguably the greatest metal band of '90s and ... one of the greatest and most influential metal bands ever."[2] The band has received accolades such as ranking 45 on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock[3] and fifth on MTV's "Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All-Time".[4]Due to long-standing internal conflicts, Pantera dissolved in 2003. The following year, the band's guitarist, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, was shot and killed on-stage while performing with his new band, Damageplan.Philip Hansen Anselmo (born June 30, 1968 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a heavy metal vocalist and musician, currently performing with Down. He is best known as a vocalist, lyricist and co-composer for Pantera, but has been involved with numerous other musical projects in heavy metal.Rex Robert Brown (born July 27, 1964 in Graham, Texas) is a bassist, best known for his work with the American heavy metal band Pantera from the time the band formed in the early 80's until its dissolution in 2003. Along with former Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo, he subsequently joined Down to replace bassist Todd Strange, and most recently played bass on the Crowbar album, Lifesblood for the Downtrodden. During the early days of Pantera Rex Brown went by the stage name Rex Rocker. It wasn't until Far Beyond Driven that both Rex Brown and Dimebag Darrell changed their stage names. Rex dropped Rex Rocker and was just credited from then on as Rex Brown and Diamond Darell was changed to Dimebag Darrell.Vinnie Paul (Vincent Paul Abbott) (born on March 11, 1964), in Dallas, Texas, United States is a heavy metal drummer and producer most known for his work in Pantera and Damageplan.Paul also incorporates elements of progressive rock and swing into his drumming. [citation needed]Paul is the son of Carolina Abbot and Jerry Abbott, a country music songwriter and producer. He played in Pantera, Tres Diablos, Damageplan, and Rebel Meets Rebel with his brother, late guitarist Dimebag Darrell. His professional musical relationship with his brother often earned them comparisons to hard rock musicians Eddie and Alex Van Halen. Currently, Paul, along with members from Mudvayne and Nothingface, have formed the supergroup - Hellyeah. His biggest influence is Peter Criss of KISSDimebag Darrell (born Darrell Lance Abbott on August 20, 1966, Arlington, Texas -- December 8, 2004, Columbus, Ohio), also known as Diamond Darrell until mid 1992, was the lead guitarist for the heavy metal bands Pantera, Damageplan and Rebel Meets Rebel.
