The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was a historic event held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969.To many, the festival exemplified the counterculture of the 1960s and the 'hippie era'. Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared during the sometimes rainy weekend. Although attempts have been made over the years to recreate the festival, the original event has proven to be unique and legendary. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.The event was captured in a successful 1970 documentary, Woodstock (subtitled '3 Days of Peace & Music'), directed by Michael Wadleigh.Part 9.Sunday, August 17 to Monday, August 18. English rock/blues singer Joe Cocker was the first act on the last officially booked day; he opened up the day's events at 2PM. His set was preceded by at least two unidentified instrumentals by The Grease Band. Cocker's last song was a cover of 'With a Little Help from My Friends' by The Beatles from their 1967 album Sgt. READ METhis is a very short scene from a film I worked on in mid 2005 called Buchenwald.Buchenwald was a German concentration camp known for some of the worst and most bizarre crimes committed during the dark years of the holocaust. The movie is about a prisoner who has been in the camp for one week, who spends a night without sleep to talk to a prisoner who has been in the camp for a year. They exchange stories about life before Buchenwald while the movie flashes back and shows their stories. Through the stories we see how alike one mans week is to one mans year. This short scene from Buchenwald isn't a story or flashback; it is the imagination of the man who has been imprisoned for a full year. He was once a musician but is now forgetting what music even sounds like.Played by my good friend Markandeya who is a wonderfully talented pianist and guitarist. Thought I would upload a little more footage from The Movie Waterloo concerning The Duchess of Richmond's Ball of 15-06-1815It appears no You Tuber has an inkling as to the pieces played at Her Grace's Ball ?Below is a cut & paste from an earlier video regarding this matter : -This footage comes from the very historically accurate "Waterloo." {Although there is the odd historical blemish, it is still highly factual} The question is what is the piece called as the Ladies & Officers Etc. danced the night away at The Duchess of Richmond's Ball ?I may say it myself, but one does feel a bit of an expert in the finery of Battle Tactics regarding Waterloo, but can not place this wonderful piece, I even asked on Talk Back Radio a number of years ago after playing it down the line, but alas no following callers knew, as for any other goings ons at Her Grace's Ball that night, one should not take as read certain accounts, although I would fancy they would not be too far from what went on. It is the outcome of The Battle that changed European & indeed World History that interests an old reprobate such as I Lol. But one would give anything to have been a lad at that Ball on that night....dancing the night away before battle, those were the days !

Frederick Hohman plays Tu es Petra (Thou Art the Rock) from the Byzantine Sketches of Henri Mulet upon the Great Organ of Methuen Memorial Music Hall, in Methuen Massachusetts USA. This is an excerpt from a concert given on 29 September 1996. The complete 30-minute program is one episode from the Midnight Pipes tv series. The DVD product of this is item # MP 9021 DVD, and may be acquired from many sources, including http://www.zarex.com/bin .Frederick Hohman also has a CD from Methuen on the PRO ORGANO label, entitled "Forever Methuen." Details may be accessed by entering "7066" in the Search Box at http://www.zarex.com/bin .Methuen Memorial Music Hall is operated and maintained by a not-for-profit corporation. Music events occur at the hall year-round, but especially well-known are the summer series of Organ Concerts on Wednesday evenings. This video is from one of the rarer, Sunday afternoon organ concerts.There is a history and an interesting story behind the organ at Methuen. Originally a Walcker organ from Germany from the mid-19th-century, it was first installed as the organ at Boston Music Hall, and it was the first concert hall organ in the United States. In the early 20th-century this hall was constructed in what was then a rural suburb of Boston, and the organ was relocated and housed at Methuen Memorial Music Hall ever since. The organ was updated and enlarged by Aeolian-Skinner, and in recent years, additional updates and fine maintenance make it function today as a fully modern concert pipe organ. As you will see from the video, the organ at Methuen has one of the most impressive organ cases in the world, and the decorative appointments of the hall interior are noteworthy.
