Go to http://www.panonthenet.com/classics/pan_rebels.htm for the full performance of this selection - "In My House" - as arranged by Len 'Boogsie' Sharpe. In the late 80's a group of young, innovative, progressive, talented and rebellious steelpan musicians known as Pan Rebels left their mark on New York pan as no other has. In many respects Pan Rebels' birth signalled the dawning of the new and current age in the New York pan music continuum. Pan In New York was going to become primarily a youth movement. New ideas, interest and people would become critical components of the New York pan scene. And Pan Rebels was always at the forefront - trying new things although they are not always the ones who received the credit when it became popular. It is not surprising that Pan Rebels started the now-famous New York J'Ouvert celebrations.Simultaneously, a young group of New York electrical and broadcasting engineers known as Basement Recordings were also experimenting and working closely with Yamaha Corporation of America - who recognized their brilliance immediately - to fine tune its digital recording technology. Yamaha provided Basement Recordings with one of it's then-unreleased 24-bit digital recorders to test and make recommendations. The unit was then known as the DMR8 which would become the corner stone on which all future Yamaha digital recordings technology would be based. As faith or luck would have it, many of the engineers at Basement Recordings were also pan musicians. Even before the introduction of the DMR8, Basement Recordings was light years ahead of any other group or production team in terms of producing quality steelband recordings. Since the mid-80's they had already developed a technique they label as the 'box and one' specifically for the steel orchestra. It received rave reviews and write ups in many of the broadcasting and professional audio journals. Now armed with this digital recording goliath - that was in many ways way ahead of its time - Basement now had the tools to capture the full dynamic range of the steel orchestra without compromise. Moreover they were committed to producing outstanding recordings that could stand next to any great music productions regardless of genre - and showcase the greatness of the 'Boogsies' and 'Bradleys,' with any of their contemporaries. In Pan Rebels - Basement Recordings found kindred sprits - young musicians who were not tied to conventionality - furthermore they were not afraid of the presence of technology. Add the great Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, the ultimate unconventional arranger and what you got was magic. Basement Recordings always looked forward to recording Pan Rebels steel orchestra. They were young people; they understood the power and importance of recording and immortalizing their music works/material. As a matter of fact the band's management viewed Basement's recording them as a critical part of their panorama season. World-renowned arranger Len 'Boogsie' Sharpe was perfect as he supported, encouraged and understood what Basement and Pan Rebels were undertaking. Interestingly enough Basement's and Len 'Boogsie' Sharpe's paths would cross many times in other professional arenas in the future - of particular note would be their coming together with legendary master drummer Max Roach on future recording projects. The Pan Rebels - Basement Recordings collaborations produced many recording gems that featured prominent arrangers like Garvin Blake and Pelham Goddard in addition to Len 'Boogsie' Sharpe. Even though the orchestra has been inactive since 2002 - with their musical works and contributions to the New York Steelband music scene, while spearheaded by the dynamic trio of Anthony 'Pra' Trebuse, Gary Rogers and Michelle Williams - Pan Rebels remains a New York steelband fixture.

Thought I would upload a little more footage from The Movie Waterloo concerning The Duchess of Richmond's Ball of 15-06-1815It appears no You Tuber has an inkling as to the pieces played at Her Grace's Ball ?Below is a cut & paste from an earlier video regarding this matter : -This footage comes from the very historically accurate "Waterloo." {Although there is the odd historical blemish, it is still highly factual} The question is what is the piece called as the Ladies & Officers Etc. danced the night away at The Duchess of Richmond's Ball ?I may say it myself, but one does feel a bit of an expert in the finery of Battle Tactics regarding Waterloo, but can not place this wonderful piece, I even asked on Talk Back Radio a number of years ago after playing it down the line, but alas no following callers knew, as for any other goings ons at Her Grace's Ball that night, one should not take as read certain accounts, although I would fancy they would not be too far from what went on. It is the outcome of The Battle that changed European & indeed World History that interests an old reprobate such as I Lol. But one would give anything to have been a lad at that Ball on that night....dancing the night away before battle, those were the days !

After much collaboration, the musicians have acquired the requisite knowledge of Persian music, and each adds their own distinctive rhythmic sounds to compositions, creating an exciting mix of melodies that go beyond the stylistic boundaries. In performance, Lian's ever evolving repertoire of creative original music is expanded, rearranged, and examined with exploratory eyes at each and every concert. Los Angeles Times (Don Heckman) writes," Lian ensemble is a gifted group with completive compositions and virtuosic performances".

Incredible video of the Late Great Hank Williams and His Son Bocephus (Hank Jr) A few years ago Hank was given this song in his Dad's folders, a song that was still in a demo stage. Hank liked it and mixed alittle of his style with his Dads and helped in producing this magical, award winning video!!!According to Wikpedia:"There's a Tear in My Beer", a duet with his father created using electronic dubbing techniques. The song itself was written by his father, presumably, sometime between 1950 and 1953 and was recorded with Hank Williams playing just his guitar. The music video for the song combined existing television footage of Hank Williams performing and the dubbing techniques transferred the image of Hank Jr. onto the screen, so it appeared as if he were actually playing with his father. The video was an overwhelming success, both critically and commercially. It was named Video Of The Year by both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country music. Hank Williams, Jr. would go on to win a Grammy award in 1990 for Best Country Vocal Collaboration.___________________Thanks go to ritchey65 for the following info:Hank Sr. recorded this song as a demo on an acetate disc for country performer Big Bill Lister and gave it to him around 1950. It lay forgotten and unknown until Lister's son found it in 1988.He gave it to Hank Jr, who recorded his own version and mixed it with the Hank Sr. version. The Lyrics, Video, Audio, are the property of the respective authors, artists and labels, the video provided for educational and Artist promotional purposes only , If you like the song, please help support Elvis Presley's music by purchasing his CD's wherever they are legally for sale..Rhodescabbin claims no ownership rights to this Video/Audio. From the movie "Flashdance 1983 - What a feeling! Can't beat the original. Flashdance is a musical and romance film released in April 1983, and was one of the most successful films of the early 1980s. The film was the first collaboration of producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer and its presentation of some sequences in the style of music videos was an influence on other 1980s films including Top Gun, the most famous of Simpson and Bruckheimer's films. Flashdance opened to poor reviews by professional critics but was a box office success, becoming the 3rd highest grossing film of 1983 in the USA.[1][2] It is best known for the Academy Award-winning song "Flashdance... What a Feeling" performed by Irene Cara which was written for the film.Irene Cara - "Flashdance... What a Feeling"The taglines of the film are:What a feeling. When the dancer becomes the dance.Take your passion... And make it happen!Something happens when she hears the music... it's her freedom.
