The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was a historic event held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969.To many, the festival exemplified the counterculture of the 1960s and the 'hippie era'. Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared during the sometimes rainy weekend. Although attempts have been made over the years to recreate the festival, the original event has proven to be unique and legendary. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll. The event was captured in a successful 1970 documentary, Woodstock (subtitled '3 Days of Peace & Music'), directed by Michael Wadleigh.Part 9.Sunday, August 17 to Monday, August 18. English rock/blues singer Joe Cocker was the first act on the last officially booked day; he opened up the day's events at 2PM. His set was preceded by at least two unidentified instrumentals by The Grease Band. Cocker's last song was a cover of 'With a Little Help from My Friends' by The Beatles from their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.__________________________________With a Little Help from My FriendsWhat would do think if I sang out of tune,Would you stand up and walk out on me.Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,And I'll try not to sing out of key.Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,He gets high with a little help from his friends,Oh I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends. What do I do when my love is away.(Does it worry you to be alone)How do I feel by the end of the day(Are you sad because you're on your own)No, I get by with a little help from my friends,Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends,Mmm I'm gonna to try with a little help from my friendsDo you need anybody?I need somebody to love.Could it be anybody?I want somebody to love.Would you believe in a love at first sight?Yes I'm certain that it happens all the time. What do you see when you turn out the light?I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends,Oh I'm gonna try with a little help from my friendsDo you need anybody?I need someone to love.Could it be anybody?I want somebody to loveOh... This is a slide show of North American Guqin Aossoication's events review. Background music Liu Shui Flowing Water played by Wang Fei, director of the North American Guqin Association. This piece is more than 700 years old, and is perhaps the most famous Chinese classical composition. The story behind it concerns the scholar Yu Boya and his friend the woodcutter Zhong Ziqi. The guqin music played by Yu Boya was as grand as the high mountains and as lively as flowing water, but only Zhong Ziqi could perceive this in his music. As a result of this mutual appreciation they became very close friends. When Zhong Ziqi died, Yu Boya destroyed his guqin and vowed never to play again, because he felt nobody else could understand his music. This is the origin of the Chinese expression zhi yin -- "knowing the sound", which means a confidant or soulmate. The version played by Wang Fei is the same as that included on the gold CD to represent Chinese music, sent into space by NASA in 1977. NAGA was founded in 1997 by Wang Fei, an internationally known guqin player. Its mission is to promote aspects of Chinese culture through the traditional art of the guqin and to build a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the Chinese and American communities. In the last ten years NAGA has grown in membership and has increased the number of programs it offers to the public. It invites guest presenters and performers to its events as a way of expanding its mission of bringing Chinese cultural heritage to local communities. For more information about NAGA and Guqin, please visit http://www.guqin.org

London: Sep 19. Earls Court. Vodafone Live Music Awards 2007.Had a great shooting position thanks to getting bounced out of the O2 Mobos. Thought we'd try our luck at Earls Court. Freezing day - summer's over - and only 4 hours wait till the action began. Lots of Brit slebs, many of whom were good enough to pop over and commune with the fanpod. All over by six for us, then back to the Colonel for a post gig round-up and greasefest.Who we saw...StereophonicsLil ChrisMichelle Heaton (Liberty X)Rachel StevensLisa SnowdonJimmy CarrTara ReidSyd and Michelle (sling)Holly WilloughbyLouise RedknappGail PorterAshleyBoys from In The Hands of the GodsShane Jacobson "Kenny"Avid Merriam (Bo Selecta)Nicky GrahamOrsonCalvin HarrisKate NashDebby HarryCSS (Brazillian Band)As usual, please let me know of errors, omissions and comments. If you'd like a copy of this vid in full quality you can download it from "the org". Those of you who go to that site know what I'm talking about. (I prefer not to give out the URL cause it draws attention to the site and I'd like to avoid any more music companies coming down on AMVs) If you don't have an account there feel free to PM me and I'll give you a link to the local download. There's a lipsynch-free version also on my account. If the lipsynch bugs you at all please check out the other one. ^_^This vid drove me insane. That said. Let's move on.Song:Move AlongArtist: All American RejectsAnime: Naruto, Inu Yasha, Mai Hime, Ah! My Goddess, Full Metal Alchemist, Shakugan No Shana, and Bleach.Completion time: 2 monthsTotal actual editing time: 1 weekPrograms used: Adobe Premiere 6.5 and PhotoshopAwards won: Anime Boston 2008- Best Fun/Upbeat/Other. THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!!! ^_^/I had to cut the song down to 3:37--but I'm happy with the end result. Concept: I wanted a vid to make people happy and to tell them to never give up. I also used it to pimp a few series that I love but aren't among the "popular" series list. Especially Shakugan No Shana (The clips with the girl with red hair, although it's brown in her disguise). Shana is one of the best series I've seen in a while. The action is fantastic and the main fighter is a girl! Not only that, but she is a great sword user and she DOESN'T have gigantic boobs!!!This vid is the first to use my new studio bumper. I decided I needed something more serious and grownup. Please tell me what you think. ;) I hope you guys enjoy this vid. And please review. Even if the review is short, it still makes me happy.Omg! I got an honor! My first one. Yay!Honors for This Video:#72 - Top Favorites (This Month) - Film & AnimationPS- Please don't post this vid on your own account. I'm glad ppl like my stuff but I'm very tired of it being stolen THIS VIDEO IS PURELY FAN-MADE AND IS IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH THE MUSICAL ARTIST OR ANIME COMPANY IN ANY WAY

here is a bit of footage of people dancing to folk music from the new year's eve/day celebrations in kyiv in 2005. the first minute actually is footage of people dancing not to folk music but to some folk-pop, and their dancing isn't traditional. however, the last few minutes provide some fabulous footage of mostly middle- to senior-aged people singing along with and/or doing real folk dancing to musicians playing on the street. where are all the young people? do they no longer want to remember their folk dances?another note: this is from new year's 2005. the orange revolution had just succeeded in overturning the fraudulent elections and there was great hope that much would change with yushchenko as president. i mention this as a reminder of the work that is still yet to be done in ukraine. to see more footage of events on new year's eve and day 2005, go to my blog at http://dykun.blogspot.com/2007/01/new-year-eve-2005-in-kyiv-ukraine_02.html. there is a 20 minue clip there with footage of: saakashvili, yushchenko, tymoshenko, and moroz all speaking on independence square, followed by oleksandr ponomarov singing the national anthem. then there is footage of green jolly performing their song that became the anthem of the orange revolution (i.e., "razom nas bahato, nas ne podylaty (together we are many, we won't be overcome)" and after them is footage of the superstar group tartak rocking the crowd. then comes some footage of the tent camp and the folk dancing you have already seen here. enjoy! z novym rokom!
