Earl's Court, London: 20 February 2008.What a night for fans of British music. Dozens of top artists filed past on the red carpet outside Earls Court on yet another freezing day. Quite a challenge for fans too. There were few good shooting positions and plenty of competition for them. Some of my regular fan-mates couldn't run fast enough to get a good spot when the gates opened. It was bedlam. One girl fell in front of me and it seemed unseemly to step over her and my prime place was gone. Fortunately security made sure unaccredited media were chucked out, leaving me with an OK spot on the barricade. Things have a habit of working themselves out. Lots of kids and their parents in the crowd that all added to the atmosphere -- it's half term btw. Plenty screaming from them, it seems they love all the stars and aren't self conscious about saying it loud. Listen to the sound if you need confirmation. Seemed odd to hear primary school kids discussing rehab, and not the song! Visitors who plan to attend the Rainforest World Music Festival 2007 at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Kuching this year can rest assure that they are in safe hands.According to Sarawak Tourism Board's CEO, Gracie Geikie, security has been beefed up in numbers of personnel and also with the addition of drugs detecting police dogs. Such measurements are only to ensure that patrons can truly enjoy the night with no worries with regards to security at the event.This is also done in lieu with the increase in numbers of visitors this year, which is targeted at 24,000 people."We had such a great response from music lovers, loyal fans to the event and also people who have heard about the event through friends. Sales of online tickets were great. In fact for Saturday, all of the tickets are sold out," explained Geikie.Those going for the show can expect a big turn out and also amazing performances by 20 bands from all around the world, most of which are second timers of third timers to the Rainforest World Music Festival."The aim of the festival has always been and will always be the preservation and conservation of ethnic music and traditional musical instruments.As we went along the event also became an instrument to promote peace through rich culture and heritage. We are happy that the festival has grown bigger through the years. For next year, we plan to bring RWMF to another level, not in term of quantity but by adding fringe events," she said.Some of the events in discussion are tribal arts workshop and tribal arts forum. Such events are hoped to encourage visitors to stay longer and really be exposed to Sarawak's heritage so that they can truly experience what Sarawak has to offer.The Rainforest World Music Festival, organised by the Sarawak Tourism Board, kicks off today at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong untill Sunday where visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in the various workshops carried out throughout the three days.The stage performances that will feature various bands from all around the world will be held every evening starting from 7.30pm. Day passes are still available for purchase for Friday and Sunday while Saturday's passes are sold out.Those wishing to check availability can go online at www.ticketcharge.com.my or head on to the Visitor Information Centres in Kuching.Tickets are priced at RM80 for a one-day Adult Pass. READ METhis is a very short scene from a film I worked on in mid 2005 called Buchenwald.Buchenwald was a German concentration camp known for some of the worst and most bizarre crimes committed during the dark years of the holocaust. The movie is about a prisoner who has been in the camp for one week, who spends a night without sleep to talk to a prisoner who has been in the camp for a year. They exchange stories about life before Buchenwald while the movie flashes back and shows their stories. Through the stories we see how alike one mans week is to one mans year. This short scene from Buchenwald isn't a story or flashback; it is the imagination of the man who has been imprisoned for a full year. He was once a musician but is now forgetting what music even sounds like.Played by my good friend Markandeya who is a wonderfully talented pianist and guitarist. Thought I would upload a little more footage from The Movie Waterloo concerning The Duchess of Richmond's Ball of 15-06-1815It appears no You Tuber has an inkling as to the pieces played at Her Grace's Ball ?Below is a cut & paste from an earlier video regarding this matter : -This footage comes from the very historically accurate "Waterloo." {Although there is the odd historical blemish, it is still highly factual} The question is what is the piece called as the Ladies & Officers Etc. danced the night away at The Duchess of Richmond's Ball ?I may say it myself, but one does feel a bit of an expert in the finery of Battle Tactics regarding Waterloo, but can not place this wonderful piece, I even asked on Talk Back Radio a number of years ago after playing it down the line, but alas no following callers knew, as for any other goings ons at Her Grace's Ball that night, one should not take as read certain accounts, although I would fancy they would not be too far from what went on. It is the outcome of The Battle that changed European & indeed World History that interests an old reprobate such as I Lol. But one would give anything to have been a lad at that Ball on that night....dancing the night away before battle, those were the days !

The Twinwoods Mechanical Organ Festival is a weekend event held at the historic Twinwoods Airfield near Bedford (UK), also home of the Glenn Miller Museum. Organised by Bob West, the Twinwoods Arena comes alive to the sound of street and fairground organs during the festival, which also features crafts and other exhibits, and marks the closure of events at Twinwoods for the winter.For the 2007 show, the third year of this wonderful event, the Saturday night entertainment amongst this small and friendly gathering of enthusiasts comprised some informal performances of mechanical self-playing street organs and an impromptue accordion band inside the main hangar. After this, those of us still awake retired to the Officers' Mess Bar to continue the fun!
